Father began mass today by telling us that this was our last Children’s Mass in April which meant May and the last day of school is right around the corner! It hardly seems possible that the year will be coming to an end soon! It has been a wonderful year with so much to celebrate from basketball championships to 100% passing rates on standardized tests, music, band, math bowl awards, etc.  But what is most important to me are the wonderful relationships cultivated within our Saint Susanna Family.

I was recently forwarded some information regarding the value of a volunteer.  I learned that the Independent Sector, a leadership network that provides research, best practices, etc. to members of the Non-Profit sector, calculates the value of a volunteers service each year. According to their findings, the value of a volunteer in the State of Indiana is $18.04 per hour. So, if I take the number of families at Saint Susanna School (212) times the 40 hours of stewardship each family commits to, times $18.04 I find that our families have provided $152,979 worth of service to our school. Wow! That is an amazing figure – and I must say it is most likely a bare minimum as so many of our families greatly exceed the 40 hours of stewardship. From the staff and students of our school, I cannot thank you all enough for your commitment to our school and your countless hours of service. You are truly a blessing to us all. I appreciate all that you give to our school family!
