St. Susanna Physical Education Grade and Dress Code Information for 6th - 8th Graders

Grades:

I will be assessing the students four times a year. Each assessment will involve two areas: achievement and cooperation. The achievement will be a percent and the cooperation will be O (Outstanding), S (Satisfactory), or U (Unsatisfactory).

The achievement grade will consist of the following: (A) how well a student can perform a basic skill in the unit of study, (B) how well these skills can be demonstrated in a game/routine situation, (C) a fitness assessment, (D) sportsmanship.

The cooperation grade will consist of the following: (A) respect given to the teacher, (B) respect given to the classmates, (C) dressing out for Physical Education class.

Dress Code:

As as way of preparing for high school Physical Education, St. Susanna requires sixth-eighth graders to change for class. They must wear a St. Susanna T-shirt (without any other shirt underneath) and appropriate tie-shoes with no heels. I will start checking for uniforms by the second week in September. By that time, all students should be in possession of a T-shirt. Black or navy shorts may also be worn.

A student will be allowed to forget their shirt once before consequences are enforced. If the uniform is forgotten a second time, the student will do physical labor (like cleaning the cafeteria) and parents will be notified. A third miss will result in a lowered cooperation grade and a parent conference will be required. This will begin again with every new grading period.

Saint Susanna NCA Goals

  • All students will improve their writing skills across the curriculum.
  • All students will improve their problem-solving skills across the curriculum.
  • All students will participate in supplemental Catholic faith enrichment opportunities across the curriculum.
