Parish Pastoral Council - provides leadership in all matters, spiritual and temporal, in a relationship of shared responsibility with the Pastor.  The Council coordinates and facilitates the operation of the Parish and consists of five commissions: Finance, Faith Formation, School, Activities & Communication and Parish Life. 
 
Finance Commission - is responsible for maintaining and balancing the parish budget of every ministry.  They prepare the fiscal financial budget for ratification by the Parish Pastoral Council.
 
Faith Formation Commission - is an active ministry to celebrate the Eucharist to deepen the faith of this community of believers, to rech out to the alienated and to bring gospel values to bear on all of life. 
 
  • Adoration / Prayer Groups
    • St. Susanna Adoration - Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament takes place every Friday from 8:00am to 6:00pm.  Eucharistic Adoration is adoring and honoring the Eucharistic Presence of Christ.  It involves "the contimplation of the Mystery of Christ truly present before us."  All are welcome.  There is a book in the vestibule for listing our requests for prayers. 
    • Prayer Line - The prayer line involves anyone interested in prayer for the special needs of parishioners.  Each member will be part of a telephone prayer line. 
    • Rosary - Through the Rosary we pray for love and peace in the world.  The Rosary is recited at Church 15 minutes before daily Masses and Communion Services. 
  • Adult Religious Education - This ministry area is for Adults, 18 or over, who are interested in ongoing formation, education and community development. 
  • Babysitting - We are always in need of individuals who are interested in caring for children of parishioners who are attending parish or school functions.
  • Bible Study Groups - Adults interested in forming or joining a group to pursue the study of the Bible.  
  • Catechist / Catechist Assistant - This ministry calls for men, women, or college students interested in teaching parish children from age three through 10th grade during the Sunday Religious Education Program. 
  • Family Religious Education - Religious teaching and social activities are encouraged from families of all ages.  Needed are persons who are willing to help with any or all of the activities, such as hayrides, Advent and Lenten Fairs, ice cream socials and other family events. 
  • Liturgy - Enthusiastic and creative persons are needed to help plan liturgies for Sundays and Holy Days.
    • Altar Servers - Children/teens are welcome to be a server at Masses on the weekends and Holy Days throughout the year.  Servers assist the priest during Mass.  Call the church office for requirements.  
    • Eucharistic Minister - Gracious persons to distribute the Eucharist are always needed.  Ministers assist in distributing the Eucharist during Mass.
    • Gift Bearer - Dedicated families or individuals are needed to assist in bringing up the gifts at the Offertory.
    • Lector - Adults and young adults with good voice quality who enunciate clearly and read with understanding and reverence of God's Word.  
    • Choir - We are seeking dedicated adult and young adult voices to enhance the liturgy.  The people should be able to attend rehearsals. 
    • Musicians - Instrumentalists who would like to share their gifts in the music program are always welcome.  
    • Ushers / Greeters - Outgoing persons needed to greet people at the door, seating parishioners and guest, collecting the offerings, distributing the parish bulletins and straightening the pews after Mass.  
  • Religious Education - Classes provided for our parishioners, age three through adult. 
    • Saint Susanna School students - preschool through eighth grade are taught religion during the school week.  Their religious education continues through the atmosphere, activities, and attitudes in our school.  Correspondence with parents is kept up-to-date. 
    • Public school students - ages three to 10th grade, attend uplifting and educational classes on Sunday mornings and evenings.  Volunteer catechists from our parish receive instruction and training to help parents lead the students into a closer relationship with God and a deeper understanding of our Catholic faith. 
    • Adult programs - are provided for continuous education in our Catholic faith, personal and spiritual growth, family relationships, retreats, and keeping our faith in today's life challenges.  Speakers, group sessions, Bible study and fellowship are part of our programs. 
  • Respect Life - This group fosters a deep respect for life from the moment of conception to its natural end.  This is achieved through education and by advocating changes in our laws to favor life.  In addition, this group works with our community.  
  • Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) - The program involves a series of basic inquiry into the Catholic faith.  Anyone interested in learning more about the Catholic faith as well as those interested in joining the Church are encouraged to attend.  The classes held on Tuesday evenings, weekly from September to early May and are under the guidance of the Pastor and the Adult Coordinator of Faith Formation. 
  • Sacramental Preparation - Men and women willing to help with the preparation of the sacraments are needed.  
    • The Sacraments of Reconciliation and Eucharist require working with the Coordinator of Faith Formation for Children.
    • The Sacrament of Confirmation requires working with Coordinator of Faith Formation for High School Teens. 
    • The Sacrament of Marriage requires training to be a sponsor couple for engaged couples.  Marriage preparation sponsor couples help guide engaged couples preparing for marriage in the Catholic faith to better understand their roles as husband and wife. 
  • Small Faith Sharing Groups - In relaxed, weekly gatherings for a few weeks per series, small groups get together to experience and nurture a deep, lasting relationship with Christ and others.  Connect the teaching and tradition of the Church to your daily life.  Become connected to each other.  Connect your experience with the lirturgical year.  Become more deeply connected to our parish family. 
  • Vacation Bible School - Enthusiastic and creative men and women, college, high school and junior students are encouraged to participate in some manner such as teachers, craft instructors, storytelling, music leaders and assistants during 1 week in the summer.  
  • Youth Group - This program needs interested and caring adults who would like to get invovled with the social, service, and worship activities for our youth (grades 6-12).  Virtus trained helpers and chaperones are needed for various functions.  
  • Youth Ministry - Members are 6th through 12th grade students.  The programs consist of Religious Education, retreat experience, service projects, social activities and fundraisers.  We help prepare Sophomores and above for the sacrament of Confirmation.  Youth Masses, Retreats, Project Angel Toy Drive, Stations of the Cross and Soup Supper are some of the programs and activities our youth are involved with.  We are involved in service projects like yard work, leaf raking for parishioners and working at the local food pantry stocking shelves.  Social activities include movie nights, events with St. Thomas More Youth, Mass, Ice Skating and Pizza at Pan Am Plaza, also fun and fellowship at drop-ins after school or Peer Ministry meetings. 
School Commission - assumes the responsiblity for policy making for all school related educational activities, along with Pre-Schooll through grade 8 faith formation educational activities.  This group is primarily responsible for the selection of the educational administrator and plays a major role in the ministry of education. 
 
  • Annual Auction - is an annual fundraiser that involves live and silent auction, as well as the disbursement of a large monetary prize.  This fundraiser is a huge undertaking, and its success is directly linked to the number and quality of volunteer participation. 
  • Extended Daycare Services - provides childcare to the parish school children from 6:30am to 6:00pm.  Needed are caring people who could substitute, be storytellers, teach crafts, help with homework and play games.  
  • Parent Teacher Partnership (PTP) - is an adult group, which meets monthly.  They assist in areas of need within the school and parish, and provide enrichment opportunities.  We have fall, winter and spring fundraising projects. 
  • School Volunteers - help provide knowledge or experience in the following areas: computer, foreign language, sign language, library assistance, storyteller, hot lunch, classroom assistant, guest speakers, field trip assistant, transportation provider, journalism, musical production set-up, bakers, seamstress, tutoring, message board, and promotional programs. 
  • Technology Committee / Market Day - is committed to managing and providing the school and parish with the best appropriate technology available for educational purposes and staff use.  Market Day is one fundraiser for the committee.  All funds raised through Market Day are committed to the advancement of technology at St. Susanna School.
Activities & Communications Commission - is responsible for actively involving parishioners in the area of stewardship.  Members help gather information on our parish needs and provide support to all other commissions to help our parish flourish in every aspect.  A yearly Ministries Fair is offered to the parish, to show what our parish has to offer in activities and events to help parishioners grow in their faith. 
 
  • Building Maintenance - Volunteers are needed to assist in maintaining and upgrading the parish's facilities.  Time required: as needed.
  • Christ Our Hope: Compassion in Community - The Archbishop's annual fund drive to help with archdiocesan programs.  Assistance is needed collecting pledges from the Parish.  Time required: short time for several weeks after weekend Masses in the fall.  
  • Christian Support Center / Food Pantry - People willing to help with their stewardship in the community.  The Center provides food and clothing for the needy and disaster victims in the area. 
  • Church Cleaning - Volunteers needed for heavy cleaning of church, vestibule and gathering space twice a year, usually right before Easter and Christmas.  Cleaning includes washing down all pews, vacuuming (including all the nooks and cranies), washing windows, dusting off wall hangings, changing light bulbs and dusting light fixtures. 
  • Church Decorating / Clean up - Persons interested in flower arranging, plant care and sanctuary decorating as needed. 
  • Church Office Help - Periodic help is needed to assist the parish secretarial staff during busy periods by answering the telephone, helping with photocopying and general office work. 
  • Collection Counters - People who count weekly collections.  Needed are parishioners to count money on Sundays. 
  • Communications - People are needed who are willing to assist in public relations, promoting parish activities, publishing a quarterly newsletter, maintaining the vestibule bulletin board and other forms of communication.  
  • Grounds Maintenance - Volunteers are needed to assist in maintaining and upgrading the parish grounds.
  • Home / Hospital / Health Care & Transportation - Compassionate persons to visit and assist parish members who may be ill, homebound, or health care residents.  May include distribution of Holy Communion and general aid on a personal need basis.  People who can occasionally provide transportation to church, appointments, and to run errands are also needed.  
  • Resurrection / Bereavement Committee - Compassionate and sensitive persons are needed to provide support and assist the bereaved on an immediate basis.  Duties would include one or more of the following: attendance at prayer vigils, providing a dish for a meal or serving funeral meals.
  • SCRIP Gift Card Fundraising - The parish participates in selling SCRIP gift cards as a form of fundraising.  Volunteers sell cards after Masses every weekend throughout the year.  
  • St. Vincent DePaul Society - This is an international Catholic Organization of lay persons who seek, in a spirit of justice and charity and by a person-to-person involvement, to help those who are in need and who are suffering.  The St. Susanna Conference works toward this goal by making house calls to the needy and by working in the Indianapolis Council warehouse where clothing and furnature are collected, sorted and given at no cost to those who are in need.  
Parish Life Commission - is responsible for parish social events and activities planned throughout the year.  Events include a Cookout in jUne, Parish Festival in July, and Parish Picnic in September.  Other events and activities are listed below. 
 
  • Catholic Youth Organization (CYO Sports) - Adults interested in sports programs such as coaches, timekeepers and score keepers.  Sports currently include kickball, football, cheerleading, basketball and volleyball. 
  • Coffee and Donuts - To help our parish family become better acquainted.  Coffee and donuts are served after Mass on Sundays once a month.  People to help host this function are needed.  Time required: approximately 30 minutes before and after Mass.  
  • Men's Basketball - A gathering of energetic adults to participate in basketball.  Usually meet on Sunday evening at 8:30 p.m. in Zore Hall.  
  • Men's Club - Members are parishioners who get together for fellowship.  Activities include a monthly get-together usually at Fr. Kevin's house for food and drink on the third Thursday of every month.  The Men's Club sponsors a Golf Outing in late August.  There are occasional card parties held in Zore Hall. 
  • Mom's Group - The goal of MOMS is to give mothers a place to reflect upon and grow in their faith while making spiritual friends.  We also provide opportunities to socialize with and without our children.  A parish Easter Egg Hunt and a Breakfast with St. Nick are two events sponsored by the Mom's Group.
  • Monte Carlo Nite - A fundraiser for St. Susanna's Catholic Youth Organization (CYO).  Run by parishioners, this fun night has much to offer for those who like to take a little risk.  Texas Poker, Roulette, and Black Jack 21 are just a few of the games to play.  Must be 21+ to attend. 
  • Monthly Breakfast Birthday Group - Parishioners attending morning Mass go out for breakfast and socializing usually the 1st Tuesday of the month.
  • Scouting / Troops - Offering Cub Scouts: Tigers, Wolves, Bears and Webelos.  Offering Girl Scouts: Daisies, Brownies, Juniors and Cadets.  Must be a member of the parish or school and grades kindergarten through 8th grade.  We need leaders, chaperones, volunteers, guest speakers and those who can teach an unusual craft or skill. 
  • Welcoming Committee - This committee welcomes new members into the community and invites their participations in the various ministries.  A welcoming dinner is held semi-annually for newly registered parishioners.  
  • Women's Club - Our mission as a club is to provide for the needs of the Chruch, clergy, and school by using our time, talents, and treasure.  These projects may be done on an individual basis by the Women's Club or in cooperation with other organizations within the Parish community.  The goal of our officers is to bring the ladies of St. Susanna Parish together to form an inner family of friends for entertaining activities, learning experiences, and personal relationships.  Come and join our family within a family!  Past activities have included shopping trips to Chicago, Holiday Auctions, Christmas High Tea, Cherries & Chocolate Bake Sale, and the Annual Rummage Sale among many other activities.  All women of the parish are welcome to join the club.  Meetings are the 1st Wednesday of the month in Zore Hall. 
  • Young at Heart - Parishioners 50 and older are invited to monthly gatherings to enjoy supper and socializing with fellow parishioners.
